welcome to changing wxman collective
we’re here to empower our own narratives and create space.
our mission
changing wxman collective is a community-powered digital space for BIPOC of marginalized genders.
as a collective of change-makers, path-breakers, artists, and leaders, our mission is to empower each other’s work, spotlight those who inspire us, and connect with each other to create real change.
what we do
+ we operate as an online literary magazine publishing art, poetry, prose, and op-eds
+ we offer downloadable workshop materials to help YOU host creative community workshops, no matter where you are!
+ our newsletter & Instagram share opportunities and resources with community members
+ we spotlight through interviews, down-to-earth conversations, and “in my bag” moments in The Glow
Our Arts Lead collaborated with DJ LEXOS to create this issue’s playlist. Check out her interview with DJ LEXOS here, featured on THE GLOW.
DJ LEXOS also performed at our first-ever SOFTER SOUNDS, hosted in Los Angeles by a variety of WOC-run collectives and artist groups.

Tuesday. I drive to work past the same lake each day. there and back. there and back. today, it ripples in my direction.
On the altar, I will place letters of love and graciousness./ I will put flowers for your namesake./ I will place the water we are made of.
I carry that heat within me. It exudes/ like an aura, angry red and lovey/ pink. Does it matter/ that I stole it?
Having shoulders to land on/ And arms to hold onto/ I’m from somewhere I’ll always come back to.
Think back to how space and time have always shared the same root word in isiZulu/ But again, what does a Zulu girl know about space?
Today I would tell you that the world is on fire, as in, I am burning. And I thought of you.
When I’m nervous, I pluck the ingrown/ hairs on my belly one by one. Leaving/ little burials behind.
As women, we are the/ stories that men refuse to/ recite, refuse to/ read to their babies at/ night, refuse to/ look dead in the eye.
