Bella Bolayon (she/her/hers) is a first-year student at Yale from Monroe, Louisiana. She is the daughter of a first-generation immigrant father from the Philippines and a Louisiana-born and raised mother, so she lives nestled between two cultures. She is navigating the intersection of her heritage by learning more about the rich stories of resistance that have shaped her family history, especially the legacies of bold Filipinx womxn who fought colonialism and imperial oppression. Through storytelling and narrative, she finds a sense of community and empowerment — sentiments she hopes to share to spark conversation and connection in a womxn of color platform. As the Interview Lead, Bella coordinates all interviews for THE GLOW and works directly with interview curators to find community leaders and artists to highlight.
