Anastasia is a Coptic feminist who continually delves into an array of avenues of social justice. As an Egyptian woman and also a Coptic Christian, she finds herself at the cross-section of divergent core identifiers, and thus, as both a religious and demographic minority, she has dedicated her time and work to unraveling the key tenants to her identity. In doing so, she grapples with controversial theology and feminism, the role of the Western world in the Middle East- North Africa region, the implications of the Western world's translation of Middle East- North African culture, and most saliently, the silencing of women's voices through gendered and cultural layering. If she’s not writing creative non-fiction, reading and writing poetry, or engulfing herself in controversial feminist theology, you can find her eating blondies, iceskating, listening to all of Lorde's albums on repeat, or fawning over how ridiculously striking of a woman her mother is! Anastasia is a regular columnist on the masthead.
