Sunbeams by Rochelle Asquith

Sunbeams pour through the cracks
in the brittle planks of wood.
They were protecting me,
the splinters and worms,
Now they protect me by falling apart
and I am happy wood can be brittle.
One day soon I will be bathing in sunshine
and I will delight in knowing
how to slowly let a wall rot to the ground.

Rochelle Asquith is from Wakefield in West Yorkshire, and her pronouns are she/her.
